The Maryland Science Center’s IMAX Theater offers an ode to the great IMAX movies of the past 10 years. Experience the world of bears up-close and personal, travel back in time to learn how life began, explore the polar ice caps of the Antarctic, fly through the air over the last 100 years, stomp your feet to the rhythm, and see the world through the eyes of a dancer—all on the enormous five-story screen in the St. John Properties IMAX Theater.
Throughout the Festival, the Maryland Science Center’s IMAX Theater will showcase six captivating films that uniquely capture the action and emotion of extraordinary places, people, events, and performances. All six films will be screened each day on a rotating schedule. The Festival will end March 1, 2012

Secret of Life on Earth, which is a stunning documentary takes you back to when life began, 3.5 billion years ago. As if peering into a time capsule, you'll witness some of the key developments in plants that made possible the web of life.
Shackleton’s Antarctic Adventure is one of the greatest survival stories of all time and comes to life in this extraordinary true story of polar explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton's 1914-16 British Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition, a testament to heroism and human endurance.
Bears is an exploratory film that is chock-full of rare bear footage shot in authentic natural habitats throughout North America and the Arctic. Highlights include a close encounter with polar bears hunting in the tundra, a sneak peek at grizzly bear cubs in Alaska, and a scavenging session with black bears in Montana.
Internationally acclaimed performing arts troupe Cirque du Soleil leads an awe-inspiring tour of the human experience, shot on location in an ocean, a redwood forest, a desert, a jungle and a palatial estate.
Steve McNicholas and Luke Cresswell— creators of the stage show "Stomp”—take their percussive preoccupation to new heights in Pulse—A Stomp Odyssey. This big-screen production that provides a toe-tapping global odyssey depicting international troupes performing on their own turf.

Visitors can purchase tickets to the IMAX Film Festival for $8 per film. Throughout the Festival, IMAX-only tickets are available and may be purchased separate from regular Maryland Science Center admission. An IMAX Film Festival discount package of five tickets is available for $30. Tickets must be redeemed during the Film Festival from January 3, 2012 though March 1, 2012.
