Magician Michael Turco returns to north Jersey this October with a sizzling new stage show fit for MTV. The 24-year-old illusionist – who made waves with his last show in 2005 – will unveil a series of stunning new tricks at 12 Miles West Theater in Bloomfield on October 20-21 at 8:00 p.m.
Turco’s brand of magic includes everything from parlor tricks to large-scale, Vegas-style stunts, but that is where his resemblance to other illusionists ends. High-tech lighting, hot backup dancers, and chart-topping songs from artists like Christina Aguilera thump in the background while Turco teases the audience with his tricks. The combination of drama, spectacle, and sex appeal make Michael Turco’s stage show an electrifying act.
“We’re thrilled to have Michael Turco come to 12 Miles West,” says Artistic Director Lenny Bart. “His show has been a huge draw for audiences – people literally watch the show from the edge of their seats. Turco is truly a one-of-a-kind entertainer.”
Obsessed with magic since the age of five, Turco has honed his skills on stages from New York City to Atlantic City. At 16, he was already performing to sold-out venues, and his talent landed him a spot as the opening act on VH1’s Storytellers/SAVE THE MUSIC.
“I try to challenge people’s expectations of what magic can be,” says Turco. “People don’t relate to the tuxedo and top hat tricks anymore so I’ve incorporated more modern elements into my act. Still, I stay true to the storytelling aspect of magic. When I can interact with the audience and draw them into a story – that is when the illusions have the most impact.”
