On February 21, 2009, for one thought provoking evening, light art will illuminate yaletown. Cutting edge technology will mix with vibrant music and artistic vision to inspire and impress. All this in the epicenter of Vancouver’s hippest neighbourhood.

illuminate yaletown will be a free public event, featuring local and international lighting designers and leaders in lighting technology, as well as unforgettable music from DJ Leanne creating contemporary light-art-music installations in Yaletown. As the winter sun sets early, bringing the edge of darkness, illuminate yaletown rises to extend warmth and light into the urban centre.

Ranging from interactive videos, to exciting rhythms and silent perspectives, the installations will evoke emotion and dialogue. This will be Vancouver as it has never been experienced before.

The first annual illuminate yaletown is designed to be a showcase for creative talent, forcing us all to see our city from the perspective of artists. How will light blend with music? What colour should night be? How can we play with light? illuminate yaletown is an event that will encourage urbanites to discover a truly cosmopolitan experience, and be among the first to launch this winter tradition.
