Phoenix Dance Theatre presents Beast.
Tickets £8.50 / £6.50 concession.
Under the new Artistic Directorship of Sharon Watson, Phoenix Dance Theatre is delighted to present the works of emerging choreographers from the Yorkshire region in their Autumn Tour. A company of six world class dancers will be performing four unique works.
Constructed by Darshan Singh Bhuller in 2002, Class is a choreographed demonstration of the Martha Graham technique, giving the audience an interesting ad rarely seen insight into the distinguished style of a Phoenix dancer.
1976 is a new piece by emerging choreographer, Alesandra Seutin, that explores how lives were altered when a group of children were shot dead in Soweto, South Africa, as they protested for their rights.
Beast, by former Phoenix dancer, Douglas Thorpe, explores the darker side of the human mind creating a piece that shows dance at its most extreme both physically and mentally.
The final piece of the evening is Sharon Watson's own Fast Lane, a powerful piece for five dancers that looks at relationships and the alliances people make.
Suitable for age 11 plus.
