Originally formed in Detroit in 1967, The Stooges were one of the bands that laid the ground work for the sounds of punk and metal, incorporating such out of place items as vacuums and blenders to an off-key Hawaiian guitar to drummer Scott Asheton using a ball hammer. The original Stooges recorded three albums before disbanding in 1974. The surviving members reunited in 2003, leading to a new "unofficial " Stooges album, 'Skull Ring.' Iggy Pop, with Scott Asheton on drums, hit the stage to support the new Stooges album, 'The Weirdness.'
