Debuted at The San Jose Jazz Festival last year, Wally Schalle's latest project, “IDIOT FISH”, combines a myriad of influences from his love of jazz and fusion to trends and sounds that emanate from the electronic dance music world. Genres like Jungle, Glitch, Dub-Step and IDM all have a hand in influencing these newest compositions, which fuel this new ensemble. His usual acoustic drum set is augmented by a host of electronic devices that allow him to embellish his usual percussive voice with electronic elements. Even more ground breaking is the fact that he plays much of the harmonic content of these compositions from the drum set as well.
Joining Wally will be Joe Costantini on bass and Murray Low on keys.
From Bach with a pipe organ to Miles’ first use of electronic keyboards musicians have always looked to the latest technology to create new sound. IDIOT FISH is at the cutting edge intersection of electronica and improvised music.
