Outwitting, Outmanoeuvring and Outperforming
Competitive Intelligence analyses is at many levels the analysis of a competitor’s strategies. Once the strategy of the competitor is known, the competitive analyst can achieve competitive advantages through Outwitting, Outmanoeuvring and Outperforming.
The application of strategy analysis is to determine a reaction profile of the competitor in order to, on the one hand, be prepared against the surprises of the competitor, and on the other hand plan response measures and strategies that optimize their chances of success. A reaction profile synthesizes presumptions, goals, strategies and the abilities of the competitor into a consistent pattern of behaviour. An understanding of the internal view of the competitor can be established. From the reaction profile, future reactions on external influences can be derived and competitor scenarios designed. The competitor thus becomes calculable.
