Lucia deLeiris’s art takes her to the ends of the earth. From Shackleton Glacier to Half Moon Island off the coast of Antarctica, deLeiris finds inspiration in extreme conditions. “Icescapes” draws us into the forbidding, yet chillingly beautiful landscapes of Antarctica and the Arctic with paintings, drawings and the artist’s field journals. Hear deLeiris talk about her work and travels on February 7 in her lecture entitled, “An Artist’s Journey to the Ends of the Earth.” Lecture begins at 2 pm at the Newport Art Museum. $8 for members/$12 for non-members.ADMISSION:Adults $8, Seniors $6, Students and Military $5, Children 5 and under and members are free.
