Between Björk, the Sugarcubes, Sigur Rós, and (to a lesser degree) Múm, Iceland has spawned musicians whose record sales far surpass its sparse population (300,000). But, as any young Icelander ? and many American and European clubbers ? will tell you, the country offers far more musically than just these big names. Screaming Masterpiece explores what it dubs "1,000 years of Icelandic popular music," tracing the influence of the country's geography and mythology on its vibrant music scene ? from Björk to film composer Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson and rap-rock band Quarashi.
