Just in time for Valentine's Day - TWO events on one evening at Ghettogloss:
Ian O'Phelan: Hothouse Flowers (art opening)
Sharing its title with a children's book, an '84 Wynton Marsalis album, and an early '90s band, Hothouse Flowers beautifies advertisements and animation stills with freshly cut flora. Ohio transpant Ian O'Phelan brings biota-based art to Ghettogloss with his series of hand-drawn works and collages in which strange flora emerge from arcane images, illustrating new growth and heralding a creative spring. O'Phelan's works comment on the freewheeling, organic nature of artistic inspiration in an era of mechanized, computer-based imagery.
Kaz Brecher: The Art of Wooing (book signing)
The Art of Wooing: An Email Tale of Modern Courtship is a voyeuristic indulgence, a source of inspiration, and proof that you're not alone...with mixed media collage art, vellum pages, and a story that unfolds through email exchange.
