Oprah's weight loss struggle is all too common. 3/4 of Seattle Residents New Year's Resolutions are abandoned by February.
3 weight loss coaches aim to slash that in the Seattle area with a fund raiser event to benefit Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Puget Sound on January 29th, 2009.
Every New Year, millions of people make a pledge to themselves to lose those extra pounds. They tell their friends, they gather up their willpower, they throw out the junk food, and then 4 weeks later slip right back into their old habits.
Even folks with unlimited resources, like Oprah Winfrey are not immune. Why is this and what's the answer?
Hypnotherapist Craig Sigl, Personal Trainer Ila Barlean, and Lifestyle coach Wendy Schnitzer say there is no cookie-cutter approach. The solution is different for everyone and requires a personalized approach.
"Sure you can try the packaged foods or the diet sludge drinks and lose weight" says Sigl. "My clients have all been there and done that; and then gained it all back and more before seeing me. It's all about the emotions."
Barlean adds: "It only makes sense. We all have such different personalities, why would anyone think our bodies are any less unique?"
Schnitzer so believes in this concept that she takes her clients to the grocery store and teaches them how to cook in their own home.
At the event, Craig Sigl will be leading a group hypnosis session: "Ending Emotional Eating" and teaching his secrets to ending cravings for junk food.
Ila Barlean, Allure Magazine's 2009 Trainer of the Year, promises attendees they will discover how to increase their motivation to exercise and find their true fat-burning workout. As a child, she personally benefited from the Big Brothers and Sisters program and is excited to give back.
Schnitzer will present an eye-opening lecture for the audience on "The 8 Mistakes We Make When Trying To Lose Weight."
