HWYL pronounced ho-oil is a welsh word that means 'twinkle in your eye, air in your sails, sudden burst of enthusiasm or joy from nowhere, when you're down you've lost your hwyl and when someone shouts it to you it may come back.
The band HWYL is an alternative celtic rock band fronted by Rhiannon Jones of Wales, UK. Other members include Shannon Blackwood, Michael St. John, Jeff Lyndsey and Cindy Jones. The music is rythmic with gypsie spices and raggae contrasts, Welsh in influence.
