Keeping the funk, disco, and boogie groove jumping to the heartbeat of Austins downtown music district, resident Hump! deejays Resinthol and Paco pull out all the stops for a special Hump! party featuring the legendary Chicago house music pioneer, Boo Williams, on Friday, November 7th at Plush.
A little history lesson: House music started in Chicago after Frankie Knuckles brought the disco & post-disco RnB sound of New York to the citys music scene. Cats like Frankie Knuckles and Ron Hardy cultivated the house sound, adding harder beats and remixing songs to be more worthy of the dance floor. Among this era of music innovation, Boo Williams emerged from Chicagos south side as a house music pioneer and early contributor to the Chicago house movement.
From Williams' bio:
To date Boo Williams has had a prolific career with over 50 singles released for likes of Dust Traxx, Cajual, Ovum, Diaspora, Guidance, 3hree to 5ive, Residual with full L.Ps for Relief and Defender Records not including remixes for the likes of Green Velvet, Warmdue Kids, Miles Maeda. His appearances on compilations across the world are numerous (Ministry of Sound, Kickin Records, Cajual, Sony) and he has a back catalogue of material that will only strengthen in years to come and hopefully stand the test of time.
Resident DJs Paco and Resinthol will be hosting the event, along with Reverend Pain on Sax. Plush is located at 617 Red River St. in downtown Austin. Cover is only $5. Doors open at 10:00pm.
