So you'd like to be a postgraduate student in the Humanities?

Edge Hill University's Department of English and History is hosting an information session for prospective postgraduate students on Monday 14th February 2011.

The department's postgraduate portfolio offers opportunities to study:

  • MA Creative Writing - a programme for practising writers who wish to improve their craft, learn about contemporary forms of writing and aim towards producing a final manuscript for possible publication;

  • MA English - examine literature and popular culture in their historical contexts from the sixteenth century to the present day;

  • MA History and Culture - cross the boundaries of literature, popular culture, film and history as you immerse yourself in the study of topics such as American national identity, masculinities, women and popular culture, and the Holocaust;

  • MA Women's Narrative - study women's writing from the sixteenth century to the present day, placing the literature in context through undertaking a comparative study of film, history, and modern and contemporary culture.

The event is an opportunity to find out more about what postgraduate study is really like, what the benefits of postgraduate qualifications are, how to choose a course, what funding is available and how to apply.

Attending the event will be Rachael Farley (Postgraduate Recruitment Officer), Professor Robert Sheppard (Programme Leader, MA Creative Writing) and Dr Minna Vuohelainen (Programme Leader, MA English, MA History and Culture, MA Women's Narrative).

The session takes place from 12pm-2pm in Room W3 in the Wilson Centre and is open to anybody with an interest in postgraduate study in the Humanities.

For further information, contact Rachael Farley on 01695 657142 or email farleyr@edgehill.ac.uk.
