WHO
The Artist: Roberto Dutesco is a New York based photographer working in art, fashion and film. His travels have taken him through more than fifty countries and left him with a fascination for this "One World" in which we all live and share. His short films "Times Square" and "Sable Horses" have been screened, and favorably reviewed, in several film festivals across the U.S. In 2002, to commence the "Year of The Horse" Roberto was invited to display "The Horses of Sable Island" at the Sony Style windows in both New York and Chicago. In 2003, Dutesco exhibited his Sable horses at the United Nations in a show entitled “A World Without Borders". His work was exhibited in VIP suite "The Franklin Room" of the US Pavilion at the World Expo in Japan. For further information go to www.dutescoart.com

The Horses: Sable Island is a narrow 41 km sandbar is 300 km southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Known for hundreds of years as ‘the Graveyard of the Atlantic’, it is the site of over 275 shipwrecks that occurred in the 17th to 18th centuries. Some of the ships were transporting horses and that swam ashore; today 300 of their ancestors live free and wild on the island. “It is a world that exists by its own rules. A place without trees without shade and without shelter, it is a pace where I have witnessed true peace and unquestionable love among is occupants,” explained Roberto.

The Humane Society of New York: For over 100 years, the Humane Society of New York has been caring for animals in need. Today, the hospital and Adoption Center help more than 30,000 dogs and cats annually. At the Society, the quality of each animal's life is paramount. On any given day the Humane Society of New York is responsible for hundreds of animals with diverse needs. Services range from basic wellness care to spay/neuter to advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures. In the adoption center rescued dogs and cats of all ages await placement in carefully screened, permanent homes. For many, the Society is the only place they will find help. The neediest cases (frequently elderly or disabled owners with acutely ill pets) receive full or partial underwriting for care; costs are covered through the Society's Animal Emergency Appeal.
