Welcoming one of the longest running, most consistent American Roots bands of their generation to StageOne is no small matter. Based in Washington, D.C. and banging out the blues since 1972, The Nighthawks have played with Pinetop Perkins Bob Margolin and their lead guitarist lineup has changed along the years – with Jimmy Nalls, Warren Haynes Danny Morris and finally Pete Kanaras wielding the axe at different times. Tonight, adding to the rollicking blues amoeba, guitarist and singer Hubert Sumlin – of Howlin Wolf’s band – will lead the band. Guitar World calls his playing is characterized by “wrenched, shattering bursts of notes, sudden cliff-hanger silences and daring rhythmic suspensions.†Welcome, friends, to a night of real, raw blues.
