HTSQL (http://htsql.org/) provides access to relational databases for those who know their
business data by heart, but aren't part of the SQL priesthood. Clark C Evans,
co-creator of YAML serialization language and co-founder
of Prometheus Research, will discuss the rationale, design, deployment, and evolution of a
URL-based database query tool designed to be used by domain experts.
What we found through exploration over the last 6 years is that, despite all rhetoric to the contrary, smart business users aren't actually allergic to direct data access -- and may even prefer it to a cumbersome visual tool.
