On July 1st, Tantek Çelik, open web standards innovator and advocate, will be giving a short presentation on HTML5 and CSS3, the hottest emergent web standards.
After the presentation, there will be an interactive discussion on the subject, so PLEASE SEND ALL questions you would like answered to cascadesf@ymail.com by June 20th.
Çelik will be speaking at the Voices That Matter: Web Design Conference in San Francisco, June 28-30, and is kind of enough to set aside some time for the CASCADE Meetup group, to keep us in the loop of the newest developments of the web.
Çelik's new book, HTML5 NOW: A Step-by-Step Video Tutorial for Getting Started Today (Voices That Matter), is available on amazon.com for preorder.
Çelik is an invited expert to the World Wide Web Consortium's (W3C) HTML and CSS Working Groups and has had major impacts on where the web stands today.
Because this meetup is 100% nonprofit, we are asking for a $5-$20 donation to cover the costs, either via paypal or at the door. Refreshments will be served and we will be raffling off books from Peachpit.
*NOTE: Attendees must RSVP via meetup.com/cascadesf

Çelik is an invited expert; how about an uninvited expert.i could do that...but it does amaze me how long it took for HTML5 AND CSS to evolve from Neanderthal to Modern code "binare simplitictics". And the inventors name has diacritical marks that we can't even type on a US standard keyboard. Are Americans slipping behind in a technology we perfected, long ago. I think so.
