Howard Zinn will give a talk on behalf of Spare Change News on June 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Old South Church in Boston. All proceeds from the event will benefit Spare Change News, Boston's street paper about and sold by homeless, formerly homeless, and low-income individuals.
Zinn’s talk will focus on “What a Great Society Looks Like.” Social critic, historian, and writer Zinn has written more than 20 books and is a professor emeritus at Boston University.
Tickets for the event will be income-sensitive. Admission will be $25, but a $20 and a $10 ticket will also be offered. Attendees are encouraged to pay what they can. Seating is general admission. People can buy tickets online at: http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/36999 or by calling Brown Paper Tickets at 1(800)838-3006. Tickets will also be available at the door at 7:00.
Zinn’s 1980 book A People’s History of the United States is a national bestseller, and his latest project A People’s History of American Empire is described by one website as a “rollicking graphic history, illustrated by cartoonist Mike Konopacki that that takes us from the Indian Wars to the Iraqi "frontier" (with some striking autobiographical asides from Zinn's own life).”
