Find out how to get paid to buy your first home.
First-time homebuyers in the Seattle area now have historic market and financial opportunities to securely position themselves for the future. In addition to the federal tax credit of $8,000, expiring on 4/30/2010, the Seattle area is home to about a dozen homebuyer assistance programs to help with down payment and closing costs. Some contribute as much as $60,000 to a home purchase.
Yet all of this money, significantly lower prices, low interest rates and an ever-shifting market make a complicated environment. Many would-be homebuyers are daunted by the complexity and risk of the home buying process. A series of free seminars is scheduled to educate people interested in buying their first home. The Diane Rae Jones seminars are designed to demystify the process and equip attendees to confidently enter the Seattle and Eastside real estate market as savvy and empowered decision-makers.
Volunteer experts will discuss topics and answer questions relating to: buying a home in the Seattle real estate market, how to choose the right home and neighborhood in and around Seattle and the Eastside, how to qualify for a mortgage, first-time homebuyer mortgage options, home inspections, title insurance, the role of escrow, tax advantages of home ownership, forms of real estate ownership, the real estate buying process, when not to buy and, the little-known topic of local government bond money available to assist buyers to purchase a home.
