OBAMA’S VICTORY was an historic moment: the election of the United States’ first African American president, the end of eight years of the Bush Regime. It was rightly seen by millions of people as the beginning of something new.

Obama’s victory has raised expectations and given people hope. But in the months since, the bank bailouts, silence on gay marriage and Palestine and a health care proposal that falls far short of what is needed have left many asking exactly how much has changed—and what will it take to win real progressive reforms.

With the first six months of Obama’s presidency behind us, the Left must begin to take stock of what has changed and what has not and discuss a strategy for rebuilding a Left movement in this country.

Join us for a discussion with a panel of radicals and activists to debate, discuss and strategize.
