Hovering at a Low Altitude: The Collected Poetry of Dahlia Ravikovitch, a reading and talk by translators Chana Bloch and Chana Kronfeld AND the book launch of Blood Honey, by Chana Bloch October 1, 2009

Dahlia Ravikovitch (1936-2005), who spent most of her life in Tel Aviv, was one of the great Hebrew poets of our time. She was widely honored for her artistry, receiving the Bialik Prize and the Israel Prize, and admired for her courage as a peace activist. Hovering at a Low Altitude presents in English for the first time the full range of themes and styles in Ravikovitch’s poetry. Bloch and Kronfeld worked with Ravikovitch on their translation up until her death. They will read from her work and speak about the challenges they faced, and the choices they made, in assembling this tribute to an extraordinary poet.

Chana Bloch’s newly published book of poems, Blood Honey, explores life’s mixture of sweetness and pain, violence and solace. “Life is like that; you find sweetness where you can, often in the darkest places.”
