July is National Hot Dog Month and what better way to celebrate than the
Houston Hot Dog Eating Championship. One person will take away the title
"Houston's Hot Dog Eating Champion," a $250.00 cash prize and trophy. Second prize is $50.00.
This is the fourth year for the championship which was created as a fundraiser for
the Houston North West Lions Club.
Activities include a hula-hoop contest and watermelon eating contest for
kids under 12, a bake sale, live auction, and other fun activities. The
event starts at 1:00 PM. The hula-hoop contest begins at 2:00 PM and the Hot
Dog Eating Championship begins at 3:00 PM. The watermelon eating contest is
held immediately following the hot dog eating championship. Entry in the
Houston Hot Dog Eating Championship is $25.00, a 100% charitable doanation
to the Lions Club. The title “Houston’s Hot Dog Eating Champion " and trophy make great
bragging rights for fraternities, companies, or organizations. To enter,
sign up at the Hot Dog Shop or call 713-937-8039. Entries will be accepted
up to the contest.
