An evening interweaving story, music, and poetry, in an exploration and celebration of the ways nature speaks to us.

Frannie Oates, writer, educator and storyteller, will share in her one-woman show how the western mountains of North Carolina have been her refuge and inspiration.

An Asheville native who is not only from the mountains but of them, she's called Henderson County her home for more than two decades. Frannie portrayed Daisy Werthan in the Hendersonville Little Theatre production of "Driving Miss Daisy" for which she won the award for Best Performance by an actress in 2011.

An evening with Frannie is to witness a memoir in story and song, a journey, a celebration of life.

Frannie has performed at the National Storytelling Festival in Jonesborough, TN, the Washington, DC Storytellers Theatre, and other national festivals. She's taught at an outdoor experiential high school, as well as an inter-tribal treatment center in Cherokee... She's run with a timber wolf and ventured out to Montana to work with R. Carlos Nakai.

Sarasota is her "now 'n' again" place, and we're thrilled with her every return. Come enjoy an evening with Frannie. She’ll weave her enchantment using stories, poetry, a ukulele, a flute, a hand-drum, 'n' maybe a little guitar… "Frannie is a bard par excellence."

Frannie will share the early part of the evening with Ariel Egbert, a young talent who recently and joyfully walked into our lives, carrying a ukulele, wearing a Hawai’ian shirt and a warm smile.

A bright and friendly 22-year old from Charleston, SC, Ari is a self-taught uke player who recently enjoyed busking in New York City subways. With his sights set on going to M.I.T. in the future, Ari is here visiting and helping family for a couple of months, while teaching ukulele classes at The Rhythm Inlet.

We’ll delight in finally giving Ari the floor to cut loose and share some of his favorite ukulele tunes.

Bring your uke if you have one, for a play-along song!

Seats are $10 at the door, cash or checks. Limited seating. Refreshments served. The Rhythm Inlet, north end Nokomis, Tamiami Trail, west side
