Hotel San Jose will host a special reading of The Kids Are All Right, featuring a cast of notable Austinites reading the roles of the Welch family.
The Kids Are All Right recounts the heart-wrenching story of the Welch family’s dissolution through the voices of four siblings who were orphaned after their parents’ sudden deaths. When their investment banker father died in a suspicious car crash and soap opera star mother succumbed to cancer soon thereafter, Diana, Liz, Dan and Amanda were separated and each placed with different homes. In The Kids Are All Right, the siblings share their poignant stories of resilience, strength, loyalty and finding each other again after tragedy tore them apart.
Portraying the siblings will be performance artist Silky Shoemaker (Liz Welch), playwright Andy Rihn (Dan Welch), indie rock musician Michelle Marchessault (Amanda Welch) and Sarah Rosenthal (Diana Welch).
The Kids Are All Right has garnered rave reviews from People magazine, Booklist magazine, Vanity Fair and many others. O magazine recently touted the memoir as “both well crafted and beautifully written, not to mention tremendously engrossing and moving.”
In addition to the book reading, there will also be plenty of drinks and music in the San Jose courtyard lounge. More information about The Kids Are All Right can be found at www.thekidsareallrightbook.com.
