“I like my sh*t to be pretty,” says painter Shaun Thurston, who uses any medium that makes a good mark. “Hostile Charm”, the new show at T-Shirt Construction Co.TM, showcases a variety of Thurston’s works. He combines his early childhood attraction to ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock prints) with art-history influences and time spent painting graffiti to create multi-layered pieces dominated by nature and pop.
Thurston’s original art will be for sale, along with one-of-a-kind t-shirt art he’s creating for debut at the event. The event also features music by DJ Kid Yzer (Hip Hop Hell), breakdancers and drinks. Drop in to see his work and other local artwork ready for transfer onto t-shirts, totes and more.
Opening Friday, August 25, 2006, 8-11PM. Event is free. Prices vary for wearable art items. Show continues through October 3. Store hours are Tu-Sat, 1-7pm. 674 Highland Avenue, Inman Park/Old 4th Ward. 404 377 1310.
