Mitali D`Souza, one of the seniormost disciples of Jhelum Paranjape, also received training from the doyen of Odissi, the late Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra. Today, she is herself a teacher of dance and has performed at numerous festivals in India and abroad, the most prominent among these being the Festival of India in Germany (1992), the Asian Dance Convention in the USA (2003), touring Italy with her guru and Italian dancer, Ileana Citarist, and playing Rukmini, Krishna`s consort in a film based on Tagore`s masterpiece, `Bhanusinga Padavali`. She also played the lead role in the ballet, `Leelavati`, choreographed by Jhelum Paranjape.
