The world can be a frightening place for those who are struggling, homeless and in need of the necessary resources for survival. Unfortunately, many people in the city of Tucson fall into this statistic. They are malnourished, lack basic goods like clothing and hygiene items, and don’t have access to dental and medical care. HopeFest was created as a community outreach program to help our less fortunate families in Tucson. Hundreds of volunteers come together to help make a difference. HopeFest 2007 will be held on Saturday, October 27 at Tucson Electric Park. Doors open at 9 a.m.
Tucson’s Hope Fest is a local non-profit organization that provides a helping hand to community members in need of everyday things many of us don’t think twice about. This event is held each October as a part of “Make a Difference Day.” This year’s main sponsor is Pima Medical Institute.
Now in its 15th year of service to the community, HopeFest provides dental care, medical screening, groceries, haircuts, clothing and hygiene items to homeless, working poor, and underprivileged families in Tucson. These services are volunteered by willing organizations and businesses in our community.
The dental service HopeFest provides is top-of-the-line care. For many families, dental care is too often ignored because they cannot afford it. Over 40 dentists and dental assistants will donate their time and services to HopeFest. Cleanings, a full exam and cavity care are all provided to those who need it. If extensive dental work is needed, the patient will be transferred to an office where that work can be completed. There’s nothing more fulfilling than giving a person the ability to smile.
Doctors, nurse practitioners and nurses will also be lending a helping hand to HopeFest. They will check vital signs, blood pressure and glucose levels, as well as performing eye and hearing tests. These tests often help adults and children to catch medical problems, when they otherwise wouldn’t. HopeFest improves as well as saves lives for countless individuals.
In past years, HopeFest has provided 16,000 people with services in just one day. Play your part. Spread the word. Help HopeFest 2007 be the most successful ever.
Hundreds of volunteers, helping agencies, compassionate ministries, government, social service organizations, faith-based organizations, groups and individuals will unite for a common cause during this amazing event.
