“Cellist Daniel Levin is a major new voice on his instrument and in improvised music,” said the Boston Phoenix. Since moving to New York in 2001 after graduating from Boston’s New England Conservatory, Levin has recorded six albums with his remarkable quartet, as well as a trio album, and a recently released solo album, Inner Landscape (Clean Feed). He has worked or recorded with a virtual who’s who of new jazz, including Billy Bang, Tim Berne, Anthony Braxton, Rob Brown, Andrew Cyrille, Mark Dresser, Tony Malaby, Joe Morris, Joe McPhee, William Parker, Ivo Perelman, Ken Vandermark, and many others. The authoritative Penguin Guide to Jazz calls Levin “very much the man to watch.”
