For more than 65 years, the Borodin Quartet has been one of the world’s most celebrated chamber ensembles. Today’s members carry on the Quartet’s revered tradition. The Borodin’s particular affinity with Russian repertory was stimulated by a close relationship with Shostakovich, who personally supervised the study of each of his quartets. Generations later, for their first-ever Calgary appearance, the Borodin Quartet is joined by Georgy Tchaidze, 2009 Honens Prize Laureate, for a performance of the composer’s riveting piano quintet. At Rozsa Centre, University of Calgary 7:30 pm. $10 - $45. 403-299-0140, honens.com.
