Stories are meant to be shared, and Homegrown DocFest is how NW Documentary shares them. At the end of each workshop term our students premiere their projects on the big screen at the historic Mission Theater.
It’s a really exciting night that usually packs the Mission floor and balcony. The stories can be about anything and everything—past stories have included Roller Derby, Voodoo doughnuts, Pez collectors, a gay gun club, radical cheerleaders, and even banana slugs. Through interesting stories like these, and with the help of the Mission's great food and drink, folks leave feeling a lot more connected to the people and places in Portland.
Audience members are treated to a filmmakers' Q&A, live music, and a storytellers' after-party. Homegrown DocFest is a celebrated and anticipated art event in Portland. Don't miss the next one on August 28th with live music by folk singer Laura Gibson!!!
