Home movies are the history of our times! Share your treasured home movies that capture vivid moments in your family’s everyday life. Choose your favorite ten-minute excerpt that reveals who you were and how you lived, and we’ll show it on the big screen.
We’ll also help you make your home movies part of the cultural history project Jewish Homegrown History, produced by USC’s Labyrinth Project The Labyrinth Project is particularly interested in gathering Jewish “homegrown movies” from the Persian, Israeli, Russian, South African, and Orthodox communities, preferably shot before 1985.
The Skirball will provide screening equipment for 8mm, Super 8, 16mm, videocassettes, and DVDs, and technicians to assist with the viewing process. Experts will also be on hand to advise on best preservation practices. Due to time constraints, advance reservations are recommended. Please call (310) 440-4651 to schedule a time between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Reservation times are available at half-hour intervals starting at 10:00 a.m.
Facilitator: Marsha Kinder, University Professor and Executive Director, The Labyrinth Project, University of Southern California.
