Hollin Hills, the award-winning mid-century modern neighborhood in Alexandria, VA., will host a House & Garden Tour May 1, 2010. The self-guided walking tour will showcase stunning examples of mid-century modern architecture and landscape. Architect Thomas Kerns will kick off the tour with an 11:30 a.m. introduction to Hollin Hills at the Hollin Meadows Elementary School, 2310 Nordok Place, Alexandria, VA.
The 2010 Tour includes an art show of works created by Hollin Hills artists, including paintings, prints, collages, photos, experimental photo images, pottery, sculpture, fountains, weavings, wearable art, mosaics, jewelry and even one small table. The media and materials used include watercolor, oil, wood, clay, metal and precious and semi-precious stones. Some pieces are for sale, with 25 percent of the proceeds going to the Civic Association of Hollin Hills. There will also be a silent auction of pieces donated by Knoll, Herman Miller, and Apartment Zero.
Special Presentation -- On the occasion of the 2010 House and Garden Tour, the National Building Museum will host a presentation on Hollin Hills by John Burns and Dennis Carmichael Wed., April 28, 2010 at 6:30 p.m
