This training will cover current HITECH Act compliance requirements for Healthcare Providers and Business Associates and what they should do to prepare for HITECH compliance in the near future.

Healthcare providers are confused and worried by the delay in guidance from the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) about HITECH compliance. The effective date of the HITECH Act was February 17, 2010. Heavy monetary penalties mandated by HITECH are being levied and HITECH Compliance Audits are underway. However, HHS has issued only a Breach Notification Interim Final Rule, an Enforcement Interim Final Rule and proposed HITECH modifications to the Privacy, Security, and Enforcement Rules and a separate HITECH proposed modification regarding Accounting for Disclosures under the Privacy Rule.
