Hayagriva Study Circle presents its 32nd course on the Historical Archaeology of South India. Conducted by arhcelogist S Suresh, the course covers introduction and definition of historical archaeology; architectural developments; epigraphy or the development of scripts; deciphering scripts; coins, analysis of coins as art objects, archaeology of trade, early history; tracing trade; commodities; Rome-India contacts; link with medieval period restoration and conservation, with the case study of the restoration of the Big Temple in Tanjavur and also a field trip to Kanchipuram.
