Hina Matsuri is one of the five annual observances, Go-Sekku, that mark the changing seasons. A major feature of this celebration is the display of Hina Ningyo, special dolls representing the imperial family and their courtiers arrayed on a five- or seven-tiered stand that is covered with a celebratory red cloth and placed in the best room of the house. The Portland Japanese Garden is proud to present the exquisite Dozono Family Hina Dolls, gifted to the Garden in 2008 a complete collection of the finest-quality handmade dolls from Japan.
