Hillel of Silicon Valley celebrates its move from its former home at 336 E. William Street, in San José. Formerly a Togo’s eatery, this building provided the venue for Hillel’s growth since 1999, despite its small size and inadequate meeting spaces.
Hillel serves five colleges in Silicon Valley: San Jose State, Santa Clara, Foothill, De Anza and West Valley.
As the program grew, it became imperative to move to a larger home, where events like Shabbat dinners and festival celebrations could take place in a more comfortable space.
The new home marks a significant and exciting milestone for this important resource for Jewish students on five campuses, and reflects the dedicated support of many donors in the larger community. As the home is a landmark in the historic Naglee neighborhood, so Hillel is a vibrant force for student growth and comfort during their college years. This new space will enable Hillel to accomplish its ambitious goals for the future.
