Hilarity Bites present 2010 Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner Russell Kane, Geordie favourite Jason Cook and MC Andrew Ryan.
Russell Kane
As seen on Live at the Apollo and I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here Now!, Russell Kane won the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Award in 2010, on his third time of being nominated, having scooped best newcomer in 2006. His career started in 2004, when he won the Laughing Horse new act competition, and the following year he was nominated for best newcomer in the Chortle awards.
"Inspiring and brilliant stand-up... Perfect." - Chortle
"Russell Kane's level of ability is amazing... His act combines huge energy and a freak physicality with a rapidly delivered torrent of remarks... Here's a performer with the instincts of a rabble-rouser." - TimeOut
"Russell Kane has evolved from just being a great funny man into being an important, contemporary comedian. This is a new high watermark of modern British comedy." - The Mirror
Jason Cook
Be ready for pretty much anything when Jason Cook takes to the stage. Behind his cheerful Geordie exterior lurks a dark, sharp comedic mind capable of taking an unsuspecting audience to places they didn’t want to go. Dwarves, newspaper vendors, the toilets at raves, true-to-life stories that drag you in and won’t let go. Cook is close to the edge but always intriguing and blessed with the sort of charm that’ll have you laughing in spite of yourself.
In 2007, Jason took his first solo stand up show to the Edinburgh fringe, selling out for the bulk of the run, and earning 5 star reviews. He then embarked on a sell out world tour and scooped the coveted “Best International Show” at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival, an award previously won by Eddie Izzard and Stephen K Amos.
In the three years that have followed, Jason's gone from strength to strength and his solo shows have wowed crowds around the world, been smash hits at Hilarity Bites and achieved great critical acclaim - all the while he's remained one of the most consistently funny acts on the UK comedy circuit.
"A brilliant comic can make you laugh, feel uneasy and touch your heart; Cook does all three with ease." - Metro
"…his delivery is as smooth as brown ale… buttock-clenchingly funny." - The Herald
"the best MC this side of anywhere... Geordie genius" - Metro
MC Andrew Ryan
Having made his debut in 2008, Andrew has quickly established himself as one of the most exciting talents on the comedy circuit, reaching the final of the Laughing Horse New Act of the Year competition in 2009 and scooping the Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year title in the same year.
The Irishman followed up his success by reaching the Hackney Empire New Act of the Year final in 2010, whilst performances at leading comedy festivals including Manchester, Leicester and Hull have further boosted his profile.
"Funnier than Ardal O'Hanlon" - City Life
"A slight bemusement at the world, and a vulnerable likeability that has the audience immediately on-side... impossible not to warm to him." - Chortle
"Made his set look easy, left us wanting more" - The Stage
Tickets for this show are £10 each on the door - or only £8 if bought in advance - with doors opening at 7pm and the show starting at 8pm.
