Chortle Award Winner, host of We Need Answers and Perrier Award nominee Alex Horne brings his hugely successful 2008 comedy show, Wordwatching to Hilarity Bites in Whitby this February.
The show charts Alex’s hilarious quest to get an invented word into the dictionary. After making considerable progress his verbal inventions have appeared on several grown up TV shows, in almost all of the national newspapers and page 2 of Eurofruit, the leading trade magazine for fresh produce buyers in Europe.
Wordwatching is a hi-tech joke-filled extravaganza tracking the highs and lows of this ambitious, ridiculous campaign. A book based on the show will be released to coincide with the tour. The book is entitled Wordwatching and is published by Virgin Books, January 2010.
Alex co-created, writes and co-hosts the new comedy quiz We Need Answers airing soon on BBC4 and is widely renowned among critics, comics and audiences as a thoughtful and original stand-up, writer and solo performer.
As well as having many TV and Radio credits under his belt, Alex also has a two book deal with Virgin Books and his first book Birdwatchingwatching was released in January 2009 to rave reviews (including five stars in London’s TimeOut).
“A safe place to invest your comedy honk” - TimeOut
“Rather like a rare bird … he is a fragile delight, covering any subject with a daft, surreal charm.” - The Sunday Times
