Hikin' for Lichen October 29, 2009

Hike the forest of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens at night looking for lichens, the crusty growths of fungi and algae found on rocks and tree trunks. Mr. Sloan is an expert on The Gardens' microflora, colonies of the smallest plants. He will lead a fascinating educational night hike, demonstrating that under ultraviolet light, some lichens appear to glow!
