I hope this finds you all well. Springtime is finally showing signs of greeting us with warmer weather and I hope you all have been enjoying the warmth.
I am extending a warm invitation to you for my book release show/party, "Hija De Mi Madre - A Celebration of Womanhood."
When: Friday, May 7th, 7pm - 9pm
Where: The Nuyorican Poet's Cafe, 3rd Street between Avenues B and C
How: $10 at the door
The event will feature performances by yours truly and signing copies of my self-published book, "Hija De Mi Madre". Additionally, there will be guest performances by incredibly talented sisters in my life, Vanessa Martir, Peggy Robles-Alvarado, Caroline Rothstein and Alicia Anabel Santos. It will be a wonderful night and I hope you will join me.
“Hija De Mi Madre” serves as a culmination of the personal experiences and undergraduate research that illustrate my identity as an African Latina. The book explains the effects of race on identity from an academic standpoint, while also sharing the my own life as a living example, describing how self-hate affected different parts of my life and how I started a journey to self-love.
Thanks to everyone for your support these past years...hope to see you all on May 7th!
