Highly Personal Trash formed in March 2008. Born of a truly disgusting practice space, HPT's lead singer Sophie Innerfield countered the dismal environment by writing beautiful melodies over smooth modal progressions. Deeply influenced by an adolescent obsession with Radiohead, and later, Sonic Youth, Innerfield sought out collaborators who shared her distaste for simplistic pop songs and understood the importance of texture. This led her to the talented guitar player Shoney Lamar and textural drummer Ches Martin. Martin was with the band until mid-2009. In its current incarnation, HPT is singer Sophie Innerfield's solo project with occasional collaborators.
