MEDIA ALERT!! Painting with a Twist™ Launches Its Charitable Event Series Paint with a Purpose™ More than ever before, Michigan residents are seeking out ways to support local vendors and charities. Detroit native and owner of Ferndale’s Painting with a Twist, Michelle Lewis is no exception. In an effort to give back to the community, she has set up her new art studio to host charity events once a month to benefit local non-profit organizations. This new charitable event series – Paint with a Purpose – will kick off on Saturday, November 20 at noon. This premier fundraiser will donate up to 60 percent of class proceeds to Higher Ground, an organization based out of Royal Oak. Higher Ground works with people living with HIV/AIDS to cope with the disease and offers holistic support to them in the way of support groups, guest speakers, Reiki, yoga and retreats, as well as an annual AIDS walk and Blankets for AIDS drive. The inaugural Paint with a Purpose class follows the tradition set by the founders of Corks N Canvas™ (the parent company of Painting with a Twist) which was established with the intent to provide post-Katrina victims with an artistic outlet as well as an enjoyable social experience. Lewis’ Ferndale studio aims to do the same for Metro Detroit residents by giving them a place to explore their creative side and interact with friends and area residents over a bottle of wine, all while supporting a great cause.
