Heveder Transylvanian Folk Ensemble
Music from Transylvania with special guest dancers
Florian Hajdú and Iren Deffend
Presented by the Village Dance House and welcomed by WORT 89.9 FM
The Heveder Transylvanian Folk Ensemble comes from the Hungarian populated city of Sfântu Gheorghe (Sepsiszentgyörgy), located in the eastern part of Transylvania, Romania. The band members are dedicated to the authentic folk music of the region, taught by the old masters living in remote Transylvanian villages. These music masters descend from Gypsy families that have been preserving traditional Hungarian, Romanian, and Gypsy village music for centuries. Having played throughout Europe, this summer marks Heveder’s debut tour in North America. The ensemble will be accompanied by two of Hungary’s most respected folkdance performers and instructors, offering an enticing, rich folklore program.
