The 8th Heroic Gardens Festival, showcases some of Auckland's most beautiful and creative gay and lesbian-owned gardens This year the Festival is taking on a country versus city theme featuring a broad spectrum of locations and styles ranging from the energy of urban and inner city spaces to delightful garden retreats, slightly out of the city in Taupaki, Whangaparoa, Long Bay and a rural part of Glenfield. 23 gardens will be open for viewing and Highlights for 2004 include astunning and stylish house and garden makeover in Mt Eden, a new house and garden created by festival favourites John Hayward and Geoffrey Marshall, a redevelopment of the sharp and chic garden of Grahame Dawson and Alex Ross, the return of noted art collector James Wallace's garden featuring a large collection of sculpture in a bush setting.
