Honor Your Hero!

It’s that time of year to begin thinking about the people you know who have committed extraordinary acts of courage over the past year. The American Red Cross of Greater Chicago is gearing up for our seventh annual Heroes Breakfast, in which we honor local people who are dedicated to creating safer and stronger communities and providing help when disaster strikes.

Over the past six years, the American Red Cross of Greater Chicago has honored more than 90 individuals who have demonstrated heroism. Heroes are honored in the following categories: Adult Good Samaritan, Citizenship, Community Impact, Disaster Relief, Emergency Medical Assistance, Firefighter, Military, Nurse, and Youth Good Samaritan.

Nominations can be submitted online at www.chicagoredcross.org/heroes.

The nominations deadline is February 6, 2009.

* Candidates must live or work in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry or Will counties and the heroic act must have taken place after January 1, 2008.
