The Dundalk Heritage Fair is a great family oriented event.
There are the usual local fair happenings like a variety of good foods, crafts tents with plenty of nice items for sale, fun on carnival rides, and lots of live music on three stages; but where this event outshines the average local fair is the quality of the music headliners. There is always at least one music act at the Heritage Fair who has a long history of producing gold records, writing great songs, etc..
This year the fair headliner is Mickey Dolenz, formerly the singing drummer of The Monkees. Mickey is best known for being the singing drummer for The Monkees, but he has also directed shows for the stage and television, as well as producing several of the shows he directed. He has provided voice-overs for a number of Saturday-morning cartoon series. He has also worked as the morning disc jockey at oldies radio station WCBS-FM in New York. He's done much more in the entertainment world, but the important thing here is that the Dundalk Heritage Fair is going to be entertained by a heck 'uv a great guy on Sunday July 5.
The fair does not open until the parade ends on Saturday morning July 4th, and the fair is easy walking distance from much of the parade route.
The fireworks are only partly visible from a small section of the fair, so you have to leave the fair and head on down Merritt Boulevard to see Dundalk's very popular 4th of July fireworks in their glorious entirety.
