Art2Day gallery from coming Thursday (24th December 09) has organized a beautiful Solo exhibition of watercolor paintings of rock-cut Caves in Maharashtra, titled “Heritage” by Young professional Bhaskar Sagar in their art gallery, Located Near Hirabaug Chowk, Tilak Road Pune. This is consecutive 4th year, Bhaskar has been showcasing his new artworks & launch of his 2010 Calendar based on water color paintings specially done on selected subject. This year he has chosen Rock-Cut Caves (popularly known as “Lenis” in Marathi) in Maharashtra.
Bhaskar a Commercial Art graduate from Pune’s prestigious Abhinav Art College, has been doing water colors passionately for number of years, in-fact this is his 12th year he is coming out with calendar based on his paintings. In College-days making calendars and selling them, was an activity to support his education but ever since then demand for his calendars have been constant and increasing, People eagerly waiting for his new one.
Bhaskar’s paintings earlier used be mix of beautiful landscapes, but along with Art2Day he has started having theme for his works, he started with Konkan (2006), then Places in Pune City (2007), last year followed by Forts of Maharashtra (2008) and this year (2009) he has done on Rock-cut Caves of Maharashtra. He believes our Heritage is our identity in today’s world, these lenis are the evidence of our countries richness in every way.
One can expect to see series of beautiful water colors in this exhibition, each work shows Bhaskar’s mastery on the medium and has his unique impression on each artworks. Bhaskar believes in painting on the spot, he says the it is important for artist to capture light and shade, which really shapes the artwork.
Well known Scholar on Rock Cut Caves & Author Shri.P.K.Ghanekar & Well known art lover & Builder Shri. Jayant Kaneria have kindly consented to inaugurate the Exhibition on 24th December at 5.30 pm.
