HerbDay: An Authentic Grass-Roots Movement Takes Root
October 14 Commemorates the Growing Interest in Herbs
Herbs are essential components of everything from dietary supplements to incredible gourmet cuisine, beautiful gardens, effective personal care, and vital nutrients. And we can’t live without them. October 14, 2006, marks the first ever HerbDay, which is being celebrated in cities throughout the country to honor the role of herbs in our lives.
In San Francisco, HerbDay will be celebrated at Schizandra Health Center at 493 Sanchez Street, from 4-6pm, where there will be free information, herb tasting, and consultations with licensed herbalists. Herbal ‘goodie bags’ and 10% discounts on herbal purchases will be available all week.
Herb Day 2006 is a national event slated to take place in clinics, health food stores, botanical gardens, schools, and nurseries, and will include a two-day celebration at the US Botanical Garden in Washington, DC (October 13-14). Schizandra joins the Herb Day Coalition* in commemorating this new milestone. The Herb Day Coalition (the creator of Herb Day) combines five non-profit herbal organizations dedicated to herbal education, research, quality control, plant preservation, and the responsible use of herbs in human health.
