Thaddeus Phillips and Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental Theatre of Philadelphia and Colombia return to Revolutions with Henry Five Live From Times Square. Playing myriad characters based on Shakespeare’s Henry V, Phillips transplants Shakespeare’s battle between France and England to the current conflict between the United States and Iraq, focusing on a crazy Times Square street vendor who performs Henry Five Live… as a “Pro-Attack France” piece with war toys, 12-inch GI Joes, little plastic soldiers, a (store-bought) bombed-out house, and tanks.
Henry V Live… was developed at the acclaimed La Mama, Etc. in New York, with further development in Umbria, Italy, and was premiered at the New York Fringe Festival. It has gone on to performances at the Philadelphia Fringe Festival, Manitou Art Theatre, Buntport Theatre and now Revolutions 2007. Phillips previously appeared in the 2005 Revolutions festival with his solo comedy ¡El Conquistador! and with his company, Lucidity Suitcase Intercontinental Theatre, in The Earth’s Sharp Edge. Phillips has worked as a writer and performer in New York and London, and his piece Lost Soles received an Obie Award nomination.
